A great Ad server (which is our biggest weapon in the online advertising game) will automatically calculate and give us all the key reports for most of these key metrics.  And if you are going to play this game using an Adserver is a must.

What in the ‘Heck’ is an Adserver? An Adserver is the most powerful tool we use to manage all our traffic and media buys. This is one of the most powerful if not “the most powerful” tools there is for internet marketing.

In fact…It is so powerful that Google paid DoubleClick over 3 billion dollars to get their hands on this powerful technology. An Adserver allows us to serve, target, split test and track all kinds of different ads we buy from websites.

It’s like the “cock pit of a jet” for our internet marketing, where we have all the “gauges” in front of us to see and control all of our traffic. With the ad server we can quickly and easily analyze the effectiveness of all our ads, campaigns, and traffic sources.

Not only can we see how many times the ad was viewed (impressions) but also know how many of these impressions converted into clicks, and how many of these clicks converted into sales for every single ad we have in rotation.

This makes it very easy to quickly test headlines, call to actions to quickly find out what works. I mean we can literarily find out in hours which headlines we should be using on our ads and landing pages. And as you already know having the right headline can double even triple your conversion rates.

We can quickly see which traffic sources are making us the most money: (So we know which traffic sources you should crank up the traffic on) It allows us to rotate and test different ads: (We can rotate as many ads as we want)

We can see which creative ad units are making us the most money: (So we can see what headlines and copy is working best). It gives us all the reports and intelligence we need to identify which traffic pools and ad creative are either losing or making money (So we know exactly where to crank up the volume for maximum profits).

It is very important that you have full control of serving and optimizing your ads. That is why having your own Adserver account is so important.

In this game you can’t try to guess what’s working and what’s not – you have to know exactly what changes you need to do to your ads to make the campaign profitable. An Adserver allow us to do that.

It gives us all the key numbers we need at our finger tips to make critical decisions based off the numbers and not off our emotions. It gives us the ability to quickly add new ads into rotation, to split test and get that traffic to convert. (Most traffic pools are in the red in the beginning until we optimize).

One of the biggest mistakes marketers make is rely on the ad networks to serve their ads and rely on them to optimize the campaign.

The reality is that no one cares as much about the campaign as you do. Relying on an ad network to serve and manage your campaign is like having someone else raise your new born child. No one is going to care as much as you do.

If you don’t know how to use an Adserver you are really missing the big picture of what internet marketing is really all about. Now there are many vendors that license their ad serving technology, and each of them will have pros and cons with features. I know because I have researched all of them.

Here are some of the main things to look for, when choosing ad Adserver provider:

1.  PostClick Tracking – You want to make sure that you can track and optimize on post click actions like sales, opt-ins, etc. One of the best ways to optimize a campaign is by eCPM so make sure the vendor offers and allows you to create your own post click pixels and allows post click optimization.

2.  Custom Reports – You want to make sure you can run custom reports on not just impressions and clicks. You need to be able to see how much money was spent and how much profit was made with each traffic source and creative that you have in rotation. Some of the vendors allow you to create a custom report then schedule it so it sends it out daily to you and your team. (This is a big plus) because looking at your numbers and optimizing the campaign at least once a day is a must in this game.

3.  Flexible Payouts – When you are out there buying traffic you are going to run into publishers that sell their traffic not just on a CPM or CPC basis but for a flat sponsorship rate, a CPV, or even CPA basis. So the Adserver should allow for these different types of payouts to be entered into the system, otherwise it becomes a headache having to calculate the numbers reported to figure out if you are in the red or green.

4.  Custom Optimization – You want the ability to optimize your campaigns other than by CTR (click thru rate) just because an ad has the highest click thru rate does not necessarily mean it’s the most profitable ad and the one getting sales at the lowest cost per sale. Make sure you can create custom optimizers and have the ability to custom optimize the campaign according to whatever your campaign goals are. If your goal is to optimize the campaign to get the most possible sales at the lowest possible cost like it is for most marketers then you need to have the ability to optimize by eCPM (Earnings per thousand).

5.  Advanced Targeting – Some of the vendors offer advanced targeting features like behavioral targeting, remarketing, day part targeting etc… (See targeting section on this report) this will really make a big difference to your numbers.

Bottom line is an Adserver is a must if you want to play with the big boys, and make sure you do your homework before signing a contract and ensure that the ad serving solution is going to be able to meet your need.

Note I did not mention price, because that is one of the last things I look at. It’s not how much does it cost, its how much it can make me. This is the mindset of successful entrepreneurs.

Remember. TRACK…TRACK…TRACK….this can’t be stressed enough because it’s very, very crucial to your online success.

With an Ad Server you’ll be in control of all the ads that are being served and have all the numbers centralized at your finger tips (like your command center) to allow you to get the crucial data you need to make the right decisions and maximize your profits.

To YOUR Success

Hello and welcome to my Blog

I am going to relate some interesting information about Network marketing to you to see if you agree with the content (with no sales pitch).  I’ve talked with hundreds of people in the network marketing business. They ask themselves certain questions. Maybe some are familiar to you:

*Why can’t I get people to join me in this business?
*Why am I not smart enough to do this business?
*Why am I successful in corporate America and fail in network marketing? *Why do the “No”s hurt so bad?

I worked so hard and still can’t do it. What’s wrong with me? What’s wrong with this company? What’s wrong with the product?

The heavy Hitters tell me, “If it is to be, it’s up to me.” Other people do this. Why can’t I?

*I maxed out my credit card on advertising. Why did it NOT work?
*I went to the meetings. I did three-way phone calls. Why doesn’t everyone else see this opportunity?

The Hitters tell you network marketing is a sales business. It’s not.

TRUTH: Network marketing is a teaching & mentoring business. If you study vitamins, or long-distance switches, or ANY product or service … you’re wasting your time.

Your product is people. So study people. Find out how you can help them reach their dreams. THEIR dreams. Not your dreams.

People join people. They don’t join companies. People don’t care that the president of your company is a family man and has 3 or 4 families to prove it.

Understand, teach and help people. People will build the business. When you build people, your retention rate goes through the roof.

The Hitters tell you, “It’s Just A Numbers Game”. It’s not.

TRUTH: People are people; not numbers. They have goals, dreams and desires. They are mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grandmothers, and grandfather’s to someone that loves them. They are not a number, but real people.

If you treat them like a number, I promise you: you have NO future in network marketing. This lie teaches people to be a recruiter, not a sponsor. Recruit, recruit, recruit. Numbers, numbers, numbers. Lies, lies, lies.

A recruiter never knows their personally sponsored people’s “WHY”, Or their dreams, goals, or spouse’s or children’s names. It’s only about numbers.

To succeed long-term, you need to become a mentor and serve people. When you do, people will ask you to PLEASE sponsor them into your business.

You need solid Leadership for success. Find a mentor. You must have a mentor to be a mentor. You want a mastermind group of like-minded people who want YOU to succeed. You want up-line support available when you need it. You need solid training and cost-effective marketing strategies that you can teach others.

Solid leadership means Jeff mentoring Dave, Dave mentoring Laura, Laura mentoring Scott, Scott mentoring Cheryl, Cheryl mentoring Roisann, Roisann mentoring Judith and the people that Judith will mentor is endless. THIS type of leadership creates your mastermind group.

Want to make a million dollars? Mastermind with millionaires.

Obviously, the biggest Network marketing successes are people-and-relationship-driven companies with good products or services & good management.

The Bottom line? Get a good product or service to sell. THEN focus on helping OTHER people reach their dreams. THAT needs to be your top priority.

Small and home business owners are always looking for lower cost advertising and marketing opportunities. The internet has always promised a level playing field but it was not until the development of web 2.0 that things really started to roll. Social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Squidoo, Youtube and Myspace were created to bring people together in virtual communities based upon their interests. Friends and followers are one in the same online and they must be treated like you would treat your offline friends.

You cannot directly market to friends and followers because you will just turn people off and they will exclude you as a friend. Indirect marketing is the best way to marketing within social networks.

There are thousands of people trying to directly market their products and services on the social media sites and that does not work. These self promotions are deleted quicker than they are sent (at least that is what I do). It is best to use your profile links and to post helpful, education content to your friends. Invite them to training webinars and group discussions that provide value. This will show that you care about them and you want them to grow.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, you need to really Care about People! This sounds simple, but most marketers do not get this. Many marketers are looking to see what they can get from their friends rather than providing them with value and providing something to them. Listening to people is great, but if they know you genuinely “care” it is much better.

Remember, these are your friends who occasionally buy something from you, and like a good friend you want to see them get great value. Get it? I’m sorry if I sound like a broken record, but sincerely caring about your social media fans and friends is the first step to making money with social media.

You need to place your Sales Pitch In a “Content Wrapper” NEVER, and I mean NEVER, send a direct sales message to your social media list (i.e. Twitter followers, Facebook friends, etc.) that doesn’t filter through content.
DON’T tweet to sales letters, and DON’T tweet to squeeze pages. Instead send people to videos, reviews, trials, webinars, etc.
People want what YOU want. That’s why they are following you. So if you wrap all your promotions around a little piece of content that’s 100% you, they won’t care (or even notice) that you’re trying to sell them something.
If all this seems confusing right now, don’t worry, as you follow our posts it will start to make sense. For now, the big thing I want to get across to you is that you need to Protect Your Audience.

Your audience will trust you until you give them a reason not to. NEVER send garbage to your list and Not even once. This is a sure-fire recipe for disaster. Even if your biggest hero in the world asks you to promote their product or service, review it first. Your social media reputation has a HUGE value and this party is just getting started.

The indirect selling approach wrapped around content is the only long term success approach available within social media. Think of the way you act when in a store. Do you like to be sold? Most people tell the sales representative that they are ‘just looking’. People want to be educated and not sold. They want to make up their own mind so they best way to overwhelm them with valuable content; video, articles, webinars.

You may get a couple of sales using the direct approach but it will not be long lasting. The benefits you get from having thousands of friends and tens of thousands of followers can last for years if handled properly. Interact with your friends frequently with valuable content and marketing will be easier.

As I have stated on the home page, successful network marketing is all about leadership and understanding the concepts of marketing and advertising. On the one hand you need to be constantly learning how to improve yourself and become a better leader so people will follow you as you go about your business together. On the other hand you need to be always learning about new marketing and advertising strategies so you can take advantage of cost effective ways of getting your message out to new people.

The internet is a great place to get targeted low cost marketing and advertising opportunities including: Facebook, Twitter, PPC advertising, CPA advertising, just to name a few. By always learning new things and taking advantage of these opportunities you will further brand yourself as a leader.

One word of caution; you need to fully learn and take advantage of one advertising/marketing strategy before moving on to the next. The worse thing you can do is move from strategy to strategy without fully develop them. To get the best results, fully develop 2 to 3 strategies before learning new ones. I think the most you can do is 3 at a time if you want to be success in each.

Your partners and associates will see how committed you are with each strategy which will go a long way to helping them learn to build their own business, which is the sign that you will become a great mentor.

The biggest question site owners are asking these days is “how do I get traffic?” It is definitely much harder with the growth spurt of the Internet, however it’s not impossible!

There are TONS of ways to build up your traffic. Here are some of the most common methods.

1. Learn Search Engine Optimization – this is probably the most important way that you want to get traffic and probably the hardest too. Search engine traffic is highly targeted traffic of people who are searching the web for a specific item. If they get to your site after searching for it, you’re almost guaranteed a sale or at least a “bookmark for later”. lot of e-books on the subject

2. Trade links with other sites – It’s important to get your site name out there.  So trade links with several other sites, even your competitors! People really do look at those links pages and they will find their way to your site from another site.

3. Post on message boards – When you post on highly trafficked message boards, BE SURE to put your site link in your signature! This is a highly effective form of marketing, especially if the message board you are posting at is relative to your site content.

4. Use email signatures – Make it easy for your customers to contact you! When they write to you and ask for more information, be sure that you are using a signature with your site URL and name inside of it. That way if they want to retrieve it later, it’s easier for them than having to memorize your URL and open a web browser.

5. Join Yahoo Groups – This is pretty much the same as message boards. Join groups that pertain to your site’s content and advertise (but don’t spam!!) your site there.

6. Post on free classifieds sites – Sites like Craig’s List or other free advertising classifieds sites will accept your site for free! Just do a Google search for “free classifieds” and you’ll see a ton of sites come up where you can promote your site!

7. Buy ad space – If your monthly budget allows, you can buy some ad space for your site. Find another site that pertains to your site’s content and ask them what their advertising prices are.

8. Hold auctions – Ebay gets TONS of traffic a day, while you’re not allowed to post your site URL within your auction listings, you are allowed to put it in your “about me” page. So think about listing some of your products as auctions and advertise your URL.

9. Blog – Write a content rich blog for your site that both helps your visitor and/or entertains them. It is best to educate your visitors and begin with general topics within your niche and then concentrate the majority of your training on specific topics that are truly beneficial to your visitors. Allow for comments on your blog posts to help engage the visitors.

10. Submit your site to directories – If your site is a site about “fishing” for  instance, do a Google search for “fishing directories” and see how many directories are out there that pertain to your subject matter. Most of these directories will allow free submissions.

11. Write articles – Writing articles that pertain to your site is another excellent way to get your site out there. Just write a short, informative article of 5-6 paragraphs and submit it to any site that accepts article submissions and make sure that your article includes a link back to your site in your “author biography”.

12. Submit press releases – Even if your site is a small work from home site  (i.e. “Susie’s Candles”) it IS newsworthy! Let’s say your candle site released a new candle called “Vanilla Cream”. Submit a press release about it, I’m serious!! A good place to start is called http://www.prweb.com or you can do a Google search for “submit press release” and a million other sites will come up.

13. Have great interactive content – People will bookmark your site if you have interactive and dynamic content. Have polls, message boards, interactive games, news items, guest books, topics of the day….whatever! Just make the site relevant and have good SUBSTANCE in your site content. Don’t overload it with silly animated graphics, sounds, etc. That just makes it look like you had nothing else to fill your site up with but this annoying stuff. And Flash intros are only good if you are two years old and need to see flashing lights and colors. Most of all they are slow loading, and people generally click away if they see Flash.
